Ok, so let's get the important things over with first. Yes, there's an obscene number of explosions. Yes, there's lots of giant robots, and a generous sprinkling of offensive stereotypes. Yes, there's some long, gratuitous, pornographic shots of expensive American Military kit in Luridly oversaturated colour.... Oh, and there's a huge 3 headed flying robot dragon that's actually a combiner made up of 12 ancient Transformers. Only in a Michael Bay film could the last part be a footnote.

John Hurt passes away, aged 77 (1940-2017)

It was announced last night that the British actor, John Hurt, has passed away, aged 77. He is survived by his 4th wife, of 12 years, Anwen Rees-Myers, and sons Alexander, 26 and Nick, 23. RIP Carrie Fisher, 21/10/1956 to 27/12/2016

It was announced today that, 4 days after her heart attack while on a flight from London to Los Angeles, actress Carrie Fisher had died. She had been in a stable condition in hospital until 8:55 this morning, LA Time. The daughter of actress Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher, Carrie is also survived by her brother, Todd, her daughter, Billie Lourd and her French Bulldog, Gary.
