Boba Fett Speculation, Part 2

star-wars-boba-fettWhile my friend and I were debating back and forth about possible Boba’s, he started it with Statham. Jason Statham has been spending his career typecast as an action-hero. He fits into a certain type of character, one that can work on either side of the law, and here’s my buddy’s argument for how this type of character can include Mandalorian Bounty Hunter Boba Fett.

  • He’s already at the top of his field. Boba Fett is the best bounty hunter in the entire Galaxy.
  • He spent his whole life getting there. After seeing how picking a side killed his father, he decided to go wherever the bounty took him. Didn’t matter who hired him, didn’t matter who he was hunting. All that mattered was being the best there is at what he does.
  • He works hard to keep that reputation. Once he takes a contract, he doesn’t stop until he gets them. Even if it requires boarding an Imperial Star Destroyer and working with the Dark Lord himself. He gets the job done, and there is nothing that he won’t do to keep it that way.
  • He costs a fortune. He’s the best there is, so he charges an amount that would suggest so. If cost was equal to quality, then there’d be a reason why Boba costs more than anyone else.
  • His reputation makes him desirable by others, in his field or in other organizations. Being so good at his job, he gets a lot of attention from other hunters and possible recruiters. This makes him a target, but it also makes him desirable to, say, the Empire.
  • He’s fit. Statham finds himself in predominantly action roles, requiring a level of fitness, but he’s also an expert martial artist. Boba spends a lot of time on the job, requiring a level of fitness, but also requiring a level of capability in the Mandalorian fighting style.
  • He has an accent. As petty as it sounds, the original Boba and Jango both had Australian accents, and that’s not too much of a jump from his English accent to an Aussie one.

While I doubt that Disney could get a name like that, or would even want to, but the fact is that he’d be a great fit for the role. ‘Til next time, junkies.
