Christopher Evans Welch, the original voice actor for Miles “Tails” Prower, has sadly passed away in an LA hospital following an illness. It is believed he was aged 48.
With his first television role being Sonic’s beloved sidekick and friend in The Adventure of Sonic the Hedgehog (1993), he later appeared in other tv and film works including, but not limited to, the narrator in Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona, the Photographer in 2005’s War of the Worlds, and Grant Test in Rubicon . The actor had been shooting a role in the upcoming HBO series Silicon Valley prior to his unfortunate passing.
Having grown up with the original television show, I am sure I am not alone that the cartoon introduced me to Sonic and, in turn, gaming in general. He is survived by a daughter, sister, Mother and Father.
