Danny Wells, the original voice actor for Luigi, has passed away aged 72.
The star of “The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!”was known for playing Luigi in both the live action and animated segments throughout the 1989, and his death has been felt by millions over the globe that grew up watching the on-screen brothers host a hugely entertaining show. He performed alongside the late Lou Albano, who played Mario.
Whilst only having one series, the programme was seen as a moderate success, with each episode consisting of a live action segment that would feature a special guest, such as Cyndi Lauper, Ernie Hudson of Ghostbusters fame, and WWF wrestler Sergeant Slaughter.
Whilst Danny, whose real name is Jack Westelman, will always be most well known to us gamers for providing us the voice of the Green Plumber, he also played the voice of Captain Partridge in Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, as well as appearing in Magnolia, The Jeffersons and, most recently, Walter in Rookie Blue.
