SFW in the City announce more guests

by on 26/06/2017

There is only four months to go before Science and Fantasy Warriors (SFW) in the City touches down at the O2 Academy in Sheffield, bringing the biggest science fiction, fantasy and horror spectacular to grace the steel city.

Already announced as headline guests were Sylvester McCoy, James Cosmo, Nick Kellington and Stanislav Ianevski.  Three more guests have now been added to the list.

Julian Glover has made a career of being a bad guy; from playing General Maximilian Veers in The Empire Strikes Back, the James Bond villain Aristotle Kristatos in For Your Eyes Only, to Walter Donovan in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Brian Harcourt-Smith in The Fourth Protocol. He also voiced the giant spider Aragog in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and recently played Grand Maester Pycelle in Game of Thrones.

Equally known for his villainous roles, albeit in a more monstrous capacity, is Paul Kasey, who has played the Cybercontroller, the Cyber Leader, Cybermen, the Hoix, an Auton, a Slitheen, an Ood, and the Anne-Droid in Doctor Who. He has also made many appearances in Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures.

Finally, but far less evil is, Ayshea Brough, who, alongside her singing career, played a recurring role on Gerry Anderson’s UFO series and made brief appearances in Gotcha and Demolition Man.

Sam Stone and David Howe will be running Author Central all weekend. Sam is the author of The Vampire Gene series as well as the Kat Lightfoot novella series. David is a non-fiction writer with over 35 titles to his name, including Doctor Who: The Television Companion.

Joining Sam and David will be Simon Clark (The Fall and London Under Midnight), Stephen Laws (Ghost Train and Spectre), Raven Dane (Legacy of the Dark Kind and the Cyrus Darian series), as well as Bryony Pearce (Windrunner’s Daughter and Phoenix Rising).

A SFW event would not be complete without comic creators, therefore comics artist Mike Collins will be discussing his work with Marvel, DC and 2000AD.

SFW in the City kicks off with a special Friday Fright Night, where a Sci-Fi quiz and karaoke (!) will be getting everyone warmed up, as well as DJ Level Up Leroy setting the music and the mood.

Saturday sees the event opening officially, with guest presentations and features, including the Retro Gaming Area, Jedi Training and Pop Up Puppet Cinema, with a special Imaginarium of dancing and spectacle by Area 51.

Also on Saturday night will be the awesome Star Wars themed Elvis tribute band Darth Elvis and the Imperials, who will be bringing their hot-dang brand of rock and roll to the stage!

Sunday will feature the cosplay competition, along with the MMORPG Show from Knightmare Live creator Paul Flannery, and a special SFW After Party, with more music, chilling and contemplation of what 2018 will bring to the realms of science fiction and fantasy.

The final boarding passes are available online or by telephoning 0207 193 9564.

SFW in the City is going to be a blast!
