A 9 year old boy with autism sent the Doctor a letter, and whilst we don’t know the content of that letter, Peter Capaldi’s reply is a heart warming reminder that we all need heroes and those heroes sometimes need us.
The boy was preparing for his nanny’s funeral at the time and the boy’s father, who uploaded the video to show his friends and family, had this to say about the impact of Capaldi’s gift
“Made such a huge difference and helped him cope with the hardest of days. It was an incredibly kind thing to do that has help Thomas gain perspective and not feel so alone in his grief. Where Thomas is autistic, he doesn’t feel emotions the same way the rest of us do so this has been incredibly hard for him. This message seems to have given him the strength to keep going, with his chin up. Wish I could thank Mr Capaldi in person.”
