So the first trailer for the upcoming X-Men Apocalypse from director Bryan Singer is here and , well, it’s a bit all over the shop really.
First teased in a X-Men Days of Future Past post credits scene this is the first big screen outing for arguably the X-Men’s biggest nemesis – Apocalypse, played here by Oscar Isaac. The Internet wasn’t too impressed when the first shots of Isaac as Apocalypse appeared and now seeing Isaac’s first footage it’s hard to muster that much enthusiasm. Whilst Apocalypse’s speech definitely fits the despotic and megalomaniac nature of the character fans know from the comics Isaac’s delivery leaves a lot be desired. Imagine Darth Vader without the voice of James Earl Jones. X-Men Apocalypse is set to feature an accomplished ensemble cast with James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and Evan Peters returning as Professor X, Magneto, Mystique, Beast and Quicksilver and being joined by Sophie Turner as Jean Grey and Olivia Munn as Psylocke amongst others.
