Youtuber Kristian Williams aka KaptainKristian has, to me, rapidly established himself as one of the best content creators on the platform. Creating numerous very well made, informative and colourful video essays on various elements of pop culture, from the influence of Batman The Animated Series, to the multi-layered brilliance of Futurama, the enduring cross generational appeal of Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes and the genius of Gorillaz amongst others.
His new video essay looks at Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park, or more accurately looks at why the special FX in Jurassic Park not only still look great today ,some 20 or so years later, but also why most films that followed fail to impress in the same way, including Jurassic World which for all its nostalgia appeal pales into insignificance compared to Spielberg’s film.
