Marching Band’s Amazing Movie Mash Up

Here’s something fun to watch. I’ll admit that when I initially think of a marching band, the words ‘fun’ and ‘cool’ don’t really pop into mind, but I was proved wrong when I saw the following video. Usually when I say ‘that blew my mind’ I’m usually kidding around but I think this video actually blew my mind (well not literally but you know what I mean!). Feel free to call me nerdy or whatever you like but I’m still amazed every time I watch the clip linked below.

The half time show by The Ohio State University Band, otherwise known as the “Best Damn Band in the Land”, is a tribute to Hollywood blockbusters. According to the comments on the video, “students had a week to learn the drill associated with this show and little over a week to learn the music”. The recording has gathered over 13 million views at the time that I’m writing this and it truly deserves them.

Prepare to be amazed (show stars around 43 seconds but I’ve linked it to start there for you because I’m kind like that).

This impressive routine, performed on the 26th October, sees the band forming images relating to iconic films including Harry Potter, Jurassic Park and Lord of the Rings, while playing their famous soundtracks. You can see the group seamlessly flow from position to position while the music plays out without missing a beat.

This isn’t the only tribute by The Ohio State Band with other tributes available on YouTube including ones dedicated to Michael Jackson, Disney, Country and Western and Video Games.
