Anybody else remember Mega Man, the little blue robo-fella with a blaster for an arm and a difficulty curve that could only be described as ‘hairpin’. Protaganist of numerous sequels, gaming platforms and interations, this little guy (and his cadre of heroes like Mega Man X and Mega Man Zero) would go into battle with a basic laser, then as he defeated bosses would gain new abilities like chain whips and boomerangs.
Perfect material for a boardgame? You betcha, and the clever bods at Jasco Games (owners of the UFS card fighting system) thought so to! Preliminary looks show a game that follows the boss-bashing and upgrading integral to the video game franchise. The graphics look crisp and vibrant, and the miniatures look decent, although it is a shame they aren’t pre-painted (unless they hit the $500K mark that is!).
It’s already funded, and what’s more has now been opened up to the UK (the initial Kickstarter was only available in the US). I’ll be watching this one with baited breath, and really hope Jasco Games have pulled off a winner with this iconic video game franchise.
