After the disappointment that two of their main guests had been being forced to cancel their appearance at this year's Sci-Fi Weekender, otherwise known as SFW, the team behind the UK’s only sci-fi festival have come back swinging with a new line-up of fantastic guests.
When I first walked into a Manchester convention, especially one of the first set inside the Gmex, it felt like you were walking into Bilbo's living-room. Cramped, sweaty, people trying to move around, grinding against each other. When I walked into the entrance this year, I felt like I was walking into the Great Hall. Spacious, welcoming, dangerous (on the wallet; so much shiny); I really felt like I could relax, without the unrequited touching of humans. I was overwhelmed with the amount of space MCM had this ...
Pinch, punch the first of the month, yes it’s archaic but that doesn’t change the fact that I still got pinched and punched by my 5 year old. That wasn’t the only thing that happened to me this weekend, August 1st brought with it my local geek meet at Margam Country Park. The cosplayers […]
This coming weekend – Saturday, 20th June, my home town is once again hosting Dale-Con: The Return of the Jedi to Rochdale;, our very own con. Due to its huge impact last year and sell out attendance, M-Con 2014 is being held over 2 days at Manchester Central, the weekend of 19–20th July . After attending Belfast-Con, a […]
Sunday 27th April sees the arrival of what is fast becoming one of my favourite annual events, Wales Comic Con. The event, which was first organised by Jaime Milner with Mercury Promotions in 2008, is held annually at Glyndŵr University in Wrexham, just outside of Chester in the North West. Last year’s event had over […]
Rochdale is my hometown and last year they did something I never thought I would see, they held a sci-fi convention. The two day event proved to be a success and this years event is set to be even bigger. The event is free and plays host to a number of special guests including Danny […]
Next month sees the arrival of a fairly young event with rapidly increasing popularity, Wales Comic Con, on Sunday 28th April. The first event took place in June 2008, under the name North Wales Film Exhibition. Since then, events have been held annually and the convention is fast becoming one of the biggest of it’s […]
