As part of the Microsoft Games With Gold program, the Xbox 360 version of Sid Meier’s Civilization: Revolution will be made available at no charge to all Xbox Live Gold Subscribers next month. This announcement was apparently confirmed via official sources linked with the WorthPlaying account on Twitter. WorthPlaying have previously been responsible for breaking the news that Dead Island would be a free game in February, an announcement that was later supported by Microsoft spokesperson; Major Nelson. .
In traditional Sid Meier style, the RTS allows players to develop their own nations and armies with a view to conquering neighbouring states by whatever means necessary. The game received a positive critical reception upon release in 2008 and has since been ported to DS, Windows Phone and iPad. Civilization: Revolution will be the latest free offering to Gold subscribers from Microsoft since the scheme was launched at E3 last summer. Highlights have so far included Fable III, Gears of War, Halo 3 and Assassin’s Creed 2.
Games With Gold offers 2 free games each month and players will usually have 14-15 days to redeem each title on their Xbox Live account. Once a free game is purchased, it can then be downloaded and played indefinitely, regardless of Gold subscription status.
Meanwhile, Sony have confirmed that European PlayStation Plus subscribers can look forward to the following bonuses next month. Tomb Raider and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons for PS3, Pixeljunk Monsters Ultimate HD and Smart As for Vita and Dead Nation for PS4 will all be free of charge starting from the 5th of March. We’re saying nothing…
