Dana Fredsti and Ian Sales to appear at SFSF

The Sheffield Fantasy and Science Fiction group have announced the guest authors for their forthcoming social, with the award-winning Ian Sales, and – all the way from San Francisco – author and theatrical swordfighter Dana Fredsti.

Dana Fredsti is the author of the Ashley Parker trilogy, which recently concluded with Plague World (reviewed here). However, long before she became known as a horror writer, Dana was also an actress and theatrical sword fighter, with her film credits including Army of Darkness, before later becoming a writer of erotic thrillers (under the pseudonym of Inara LaVey).

Ian Sales has published three volumes of his hard science fiction/alt-history Apollo Quartet. The first volume, Adrift on the Sea of Rains, won a BSFA award in 2012 and was called “one of the most outstanding self-published books of the year” by the Guardian. The final volume in the series, All That Outer Space Allows, will be published later this year – as will the first book in his new space opera trilogy, A Prospect of War.

There will be giveaway prizes to be won, and drinks in the downstairs bar after the readings and talks are finished.

The SFSF group meet will be taking place at the Old Queens Head in Sheffield on Sunday 1st March.

Tickets (free!) can be booked via the SFSF Eventbrite page
