You’ll be forgiven if Darkest Dungeon has passed you by – I mean, it was a successful Kickstarter, it’s been on Steam Early Access for ages, and it’s regularly on sale. But if its somehow passed you by, then now’s the right time to get hyped about Darkest Dungeon. With a release date just around the corner, January 19th, you won’t have too long to wait before delving deep into those demented dungeons.

The Corpse in the Corridor
Enemies you slay are now reduced to a pile of meat and bone upon their demise, save for smaller enemies or those finished off by critical hits, Blight or Bleed conditions. This keeps the enemy line held together for longer, toning down the effectiveness of a playstyle that simply let you load up your front ranks with heavy-hitters and clear the field from first to last row. While you can still do that, it’s no longer a standout runner for the most powerful play, and requires a bit more strategy. Delvers from the Deeps
The Cove is now open for business, bringing with it a roster of sea-creatures who’re resistant to Bleed effects the same way the pigs are tough to Blight – but don’t confuse this for a reskin. The fishheads have spellcasters that can heal, stress and buff – and the Boss fights here will destroy the unprepared.
Heroes & Heretics
Four new character classes have been added over the last few major patches, along with new bosses and tweaks to the general monster balance – if you haven’t played in months, expect to be tripped up again by surprise conditions and enemy teamwork. While you’re at it, expect to make room in your roster for the Arbalest, Abomination, Man-At-Arms and Hound Master too.
