There have been many icons of horror. Stephen King, Vincent Price, Christopher Lee. But there is one person whose massive talents eclipses them all: Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.
Elvira, otherwise known as Cassandra Peterson, has been bouncing around our screens for over thirty-five years. During that time Cassandra, as Elvira, has hosted countless horror film commentary shows, wrote and starred in Elvira: Mistress of the Dark and Elvira’s Haunted Hills, and has been translated into comic books and video games. Cassandra was also once a Las Vegas dancer and went out on a date with Elvis Presley.

Unlike other horror film critics, Peterson has a genuine passion for horror – she bloody loves it. Cassandra’s ardour for horror is such that she has previously revealed that Vincent Price would be her ideal date. The fact Price has been dead for over twenty years is not a problem, as necromancy can deal with that.
As such, the UK’s premier horror convention HorrorConUK, has announced that Cassandra Peterson will be making a rare appearance in the UK at their next event on 13th and 14th May at the Magna near Sheffield.
