So, it’s been 12 hours since the Trailer of Lionsgate/Saban’s 2017 Feature “Power Rangers” went live online and the Ranger fans, Ranger Community and Cosplayers have gone wild with excitement at finally seeing the big reveal of some of the most anticipated characters (and vehicles).
Released March 24th directed by Dean Israelite (Project Almanac, Acholilad) and starring Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Bill Hader, Bryan Cranston as Zordon and Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa. The third film based on the Mighty Morphin Heroes, it serves as a reboot and re-imagining of the Original series.
From the trailer, we already get some of the nostalgic 90s classic of the original; the theme tune, the putty patrol and the phrase “its Morphin Time!”
Visually dynamic and the action sequences look amazing, that double kick from Ludi lin’s Blue Ranger was sick and the assault Zords we all know and love rolling out to fight the big bad Goldar was what this Geek was hoping for and not over the top gigantic skyscrapers that were teased in a poster.
It was great to finally see Bryan Cranston as Zordon for the first time on screen and I was surprised (in a good way) to see and hear Bill Hader as Alpha 5, previously I had my concerns over the design of the plucky robotic assistant but after that snippet, I’m less worried now.
Elizabeth Banks as Rita! It should be a crime to look that amazing and beautiful and be playing an Evil Rogue Green Ranger, it’s just not fair.
The suits look more and more like actual power suits rather than the love child of Iron Man and The Guyver!
