Persona 5 Announced for PS3; Coming Winter 2014

gp1

A sequel to Atlus’ cult hit Action RPG / Social Simulator series Shin Megami Tensei: Persona, has been announced by Atlus over the weekend for the PS3; showing that despite the launch of the PS4 this week, the old veteran will be going strong for a few more years.

Unsurprisingly, in typical teaser fashion, very little else aside from the title and release date was revealed. In the course of the trailer we see five chairs, black against a blood red backdrop, each with a ball and chain attached to a leg. The text reads “You are slave. Want emancipation?”, before fading and showing us the title details. Make of that what you will.

The game was announced at an Atlus event in Japan, along with 4 other spin off games. These included a Nintendo 3DS game, Persona Q: Shadow Of The Labyrinth, which has a focus on the dungeon-crawling aspect of the Persona games, a sequel to the surprisingly fun Persona 4: Arena, Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold edition, and even a rhythm action title for the PS Vita; Persona 4: Dancing All Night.

The release for Persona 5 and all of the above games is currently pegged as ‘Winter 2014’ for Japan, and although there’s no word of a European or North American date as of yet, Atlus’ previous form with international releases indicates we may have a bit of a wait in store.  So until Atlus graces us with any snippets of info, take a look at the teaser yourself…
