After the news that two of their main guests had been being forced to cancel their appearance at this year’s Sci-fi & Fantasy Weekender, otherwise known as SFW, the team behind the UK’s only sci-fi festival have come back swinging with a new line-up of fantastic guests.
For Buffy fans, there will be Nicholas Brendon, who starred as the every loyal Xander of the Scooby Gang.
Alongside Brendon will also be Chris Barrie, who will forever be known as the inestimable Arnold Rimmer in Red Dwarf. As well as Red Dwarf, Chris has also performed in Spitting Image, The Young Ones, Blackadder, and The New Statesman, as well as headlining The Brittas Empire. Chris has also served as Angelina Jolie’s butler in the Tomb Raider Films.
Finally, there will also be Jimmy Vee, a familiar name but an unfamiliar face, as he is often hidden as one of various monsters and aliens in Doctor Who.
These new guests will join an already stellar line-up of guests for the weekend.
From Doctor Who there will be Frazer Hines (Jamie McCrimmon), Daphne Ashbrook (Grace Holloway), Yee Jee Tso (Chang Lee), Wendy Padbury (Zoe Heriot), Peter Purves (Steven Taylor) and Phil Ford (Scriptwriter), as well as Torchwood’s Gareth David Lloyd (Ianto Jones).
From Outlander they will be joined by Duncan Lacroix (Murtagh Fraser) and Stephen Cree (Ian Murray)
Sci-Fi Weekender is not just about sci-fi on the screen, as there will be a positive cornucopia of authors, with Jenny Colgan, Darren Shan, Freda Warrington, Simon Morden, Justina L A Robson, Steve Lockley, Paul Lewis and Sam Stone all appearing throughout the weekend.
In addition to sci-fi authors, there will also be comic writers and artists, with the inestimable Dez Skinn, Simon Bizley and Glenn Fabry being joined by Simon Davis, Clint Langley and Jeff Cummins.
Rounding off this tapestry of guests, will be a packed programme of panels, music and screenings, as well as the always fantastic Imaginarium and Masquerade ball.
