Sony has just released the first trailer for the upcoming Underworld Blood Wars from Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment, the fifth film in the Underworld franchise.
Over several films, with the first in 2003, the Underworld franchise has explored a mythology rich story of a war between vampires and Lycans (werewolves) dating back centuries whilst humanity remains oblivious to the existence of either. The franchise has become somewhat notorious for its stylised look and for starring Kate Beckinsale as vampire ‘Death Dealer’ Selene.
Exactly how Blood Wars ties into the mythology or how it follows on from the somewhat lacklustre fourth film Awakening remains to be seen.
Underworld Blood Wars is set to appear at some point in 2017.
