Whilst news of a follow up to Karl Urban’s sleeper hit Dredd has yet to materialise fans of the film can look forward to being able to pick up a special “Dredd illustrated movie script and visuals” book.
Plans for the book were announced at the recent Emerald City Comic-Con in Seattle, Washington. The book, available in both paperback and special hardback editions, will feature two different versions of the pre-production screenplay to the film written by Alex Garland. Alongside the original will be a comic book adaptation created for investors and crew by acclaimed artist and 2000AD veteran Jock to give an idea of the aesthetics and tone of the finished film.
In the introduction Alex Garland says,
“Part of Jock’s huge contribution was a full-length comic book version of the script, that we distributed to everyone from financiers to crew. His paintings and sketches were one of the quickest and most effective way of conveying the look and tone of the project. When – a very long time later – the picture was locked, I could see his input had pervaded the film at all levels.”
In other Dredd related news a follow up to the sell out “Underbelly”, which continued the story of the cinematic Judge Dredd, is set to appear called “Uprise”, this will once again be written by Arthur Wyatt and is due in Judge Dredd Megazine in the near future.
