Square Enix have announced the first expansion to the hugely popular Final Fantasy MMO, Final Fantasy XIV.
Game Director Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P to the community) announced the new expansion during his keynote speech at their first Final Fantasy XIV Fanfest in Las Vegas (18-19 October 2014), giving fans small glimpses into what will be included. As well as kicking off the 3.0 update to the game, it will take players to Ishgard and beyond, increase the amount of dungeons and raids significantly, as well as raising the level cap to from 50 to 60. A new playable race will be included, although no hints have been given and, to top it all off, new jobs to enjoy and new Primals to fight against. Given that Ifrit, Titan, Garuda, Ramuh and Shiva (in the upcoming 2.4 patch) are there at the moment, one can only imagine what Primals will next cause rage quits around the world.
Players will also be able to create airships to explore both Ishgard and whatever lies beyond that, and the expansion will primarily focus on the Dragonsong War, a thousand year conflict between Ishgard and Dravania, which I’m sure we’ll have some part in fighting in. More details will be announced at the London Fanfest, taking place this coming weekend (25-26 October 2014).
What do you think of this? Most of my fellow Free Company (Guild) members have stopped playing, as have I, but I’m sure this expansion and the 2.4 patch will draw us back in. Will it do the same to you? Let us know in the comments below.
