Keep one eye on Geek Pride this weekend, as we invade EventCity in Manchester for the Play Expo Weekend. The UK’s only expo to cater for gamers of all backgrounds has gone big this year, with brand new features and areas, and we will be bringing you information and stories straight from the Expo all weekend long.
Developers such as Konami, Namco Bandai and Nintendo will be present, and we will be getting hands-on with the latter’s soon to be released Wii-U system, and previewing some of their release titles such as Zombi-U, Super Mario Bros. and Nintendoland among many others, as well as previewing upcoming games for their recently released 3DS XL. Also at the Expo will be Publishers EA and 2K, and we will be previewing some of their highly anticipated upcoming winter releases, with titles such as Need for Speed Most Wanted, Medal of Honour Warfighter, XCOM Enemy Unknown, and NBA 2K13 all present, among others.
Retro gaming fans will also be catered for, as legendary UK developers Bitmap Brothers will be doing a talk, after recently reforming to release their classic title, Z, on Ios and Android. We will be seeing what they have planned in the near future.
We will also be attending pro.play. Set up and run by specialist esports provider the European Gaming League and streamed across the world, there will be a multitude of Pro Gaming tournaments with cash prizes, covering the FPS, Fighting and Sports genres. Finally, and last but not least, we will be bringing you shots of the Expo’s cosplay participants, including the cosplay contests that will also be taking place both days.
This is just a highlight of what is in store, watch out for updates, or if you are in the North West then come on down; tickets are on sale at £13.20 for the weekend or £8.80 for the day, and aside from modern industry news, previews and talks, you will be able to appreciate the re.play section, containing free to play coin op classics, arcade cabinets, pinball machines and more.
