My E3 2015 Royal Desires

E3 2015 is almost upon us! The world’s biggest video games showpiece will commence on June 16-18 at the LA Convention Centre and will doubtless play host to numerous fantastic games.

I can’t wait!

There are a number of games I wanna see at E3 2015. The list is as below (order not according to degree of anticipation):

Any self-respecting gamer would have a treasured Final Fantasy. Everyone has a version that, In their sub conciousness, can never be erased or surpassed. Personally, I’m an old-school Final Fantasy 3 lover, and I felt Final Fantasy X was the apogee of the PS2 with Final Fantasy 7 spearheading the PS1.

Truth be told, It was only a matter of time before Square Enix decided to develop the fifteenth spiritual entry in the series. It has to break new ground by making it massive, graphically enticing and even more theatrical. And my eyes do not deceive me, it’s going according to what the doctor ordered. What I only require now is a release date, and that’s something I’m confident E3 2015 will reveal.

Fallout 4

This one comes with an admission. I am absolutely clueless if Bethesda will unveil Fallout 4 at the event. My heart tells me is that the time is ripe for a sequel to one of the talismanic games of yore.

Affectionately depicted as “Skyrim with guns,” Fallout has a illustrious history of barren wastelands, hopeless predicaments and one hero’s dogged spirit to persevere against the odds. I daydreamed bout the game and came up with a few settings like a post-apocalyptic Miami or a deserted hinterland in Australia. As they say “good things come to those who wait”, and just like the people in Vault 13, all I can do now is wait and pray.

Halo: Guardians

The Halo series have received numerous accolades as being a top notch first person shooter. It is widely considered to be the Xbox’s flagship game.

I am glad Halo 5: Guardians will introduce a new champion to the token Spartan universe named Agent Locke. In the never ending conflict between the human race, the Covenant, the Flood and the Prometheans, Locke and Master Chief will have to put their differences aside for the common good. They have to work together to bring peace by unleashing more carnage. Now that’s fun!

It’s interesting to note that Locke and Chief are not the best of friends. They don’t always agree with each other. It wouldn’t surprise me if they end up fighting each other faster than you can say “Collision Hull”!

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

Without a shadow of a doubt, one of the most prominent games of E3 2015, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will close the curtain  on Nathan Drake’s ceaseless adventure for fame, riches and companionship.

I’ve seen a sizable portion of the game credited to gameplay demos at Sony events in Singapore, as well as cinematic trailers from past E3s. It is enough to convince me to buy this game immediately (if it was out today).

Like a seasoned spelunker, I never fail to return to the Uncharted series, version after version, and console after console for its insouciant humor, endearing storyline and puissant character growth.

Rise of the Tomb Raider

Any hardy gamer who laments, “Games today are boring. They are all about boobs, ass and play like an ass” clearly hasn’t invested enough time playing the 2013 version of Tomb Raider. Focusing on more than Lara’s physical assets, I feel the game was successful in accomplishing its objectives.  Like a raw diamond, I got to see Lara Croft, then a “grasshopper”, develop into a powerful, independent and uber confident heroine after being through the fire.

I expect Rise of the Tomb Raider, the sequel to that memorable adventure, to follow its predecessor’s footsteps when I see it on stage at Microsoft’s call at E3.

You may ask, why only at Microsoft? What about the PS4? With multi-platform games a common sight today, it seems the Xbox has an affinity with Tomb Raider. It conjured an existing phenomenon of its own by securing a timed exclusive of Tomb Raider whenever it is released.  Does that signify PlayStation and PC gamers will never enjoy it? Lara will not allow it.

Red Dead Redemption 2

It’s been five long years since Red Dead Redemption lassoed my heart. A sequel is long overdue, don’t you think?

I can imagine galloping across the PS4-enhanced frontier, chasing after stage coaches and blasting my way through each town. Even I wouldn’t begrudge a PS4 Red Dead remake if it is remastered as brilliantly as GTA 5. Read Dead needs to return from the dead ASAP, and boosted by the PS4’s raw horsepower (NEIGH), ride into the sunset as the greatest sandbox ever created.

New God of War?!?

I’m craving for Kratos. That impeccable, lustrous cranium (which would make Titi Camara proud), That ever stretched, claret-soused loincloth. Those legendary Greek muscles you could decorate chocolate tarts with… Ok, I’m venturing into uncharted territory here.

I could be clutching at straws for a new GOW, but a remastered GOW 3 will be released on the PS4. Is there nothing on Sony’s advanced tech repertoire that can match or even surpass the barbaric ambition or gorified theatre of Kratos? I’m tired of ports and remakes, I want a godly, new, original GOW on the new consoles.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3

For the record, the Call of Duty series has never failed to make its presence felt at E3 every single year since 2004. Boasting three Modern Warfare games, the two Black Ops titles, three entries in the primary Call of Duty sequence and a single spin-off (Call of Duty: World at War), it’s no exaggeration to say it is one of the biggest carte blanche franchises in video gaming.

So will it get even bigger and better? What can I expect in 2015? Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 offers a contorted saga pitting humans against machines in an Asimovian dystopia where trust is a rare commodity. Strangely, the one thing you can put your faith in is, literally, the soldier watching your back .

I believe Black Ops 3 will be explosive, dramatic and will end up as a high-selling game once again.

Even if hell were to freeze, it won’t prevent Bethesda from releasing the fourth game of the DOOM franchise, ingeniously called DOOM,

I can’t take it anymore! After being painfully “teased” (see below ) at E3 2014, there’s ample evidence to suggest that the game is finally ready to emerge from the fiery depths of hell. It so far seems agreed that the game will be closer to home on Earth instead of Mars.

After more than a decade of dabbling in scientific experiments, I forsee that the Union Aerospace Corporation (UAC), will be up to no good again.

Star Wars Battlefront

In a galaxy far, far away, when Halo was the big daddy of the console run-and-gun shooters, there was another multiplayer friendly FPS that dealt with galactic troops that, in some ways, held huge significance. The force revealed to us Star Wars Battlefront.

Sharing a cataclysmic fate like the Death Star after its fourth version on the PSP,  EA resurrected Star Wars favorites like Luke, Vader, Boba, and the iconic Millennium Falcon to bring us an updated tale of the titanic Galactic Empire vs. Rebel battle. The game will be out on Nov. 17 (2 days after my b’day), so I feel E3 is the ideal battleground for Battlefront to strut its stuff. Get your blasters ready!

I could go on and on, there’s just so much stuff I wanna see at E3 2015! How about YOU? What would YOU like to see? Share your comments below.
