Nine Worlds GeekFest 2013 is coming to London on the weekend of 9-11 August, with the website just releasing the full program, and it is HUGE! Every element of geek culture is being represented *deep breath* cosplay, video games, board games, role play games, books, comics, movies, theatre, music, guest speakers, signings, writing workshops, art exhibits, stand up comedy and a particularly nerdy partridge in a clockwork pear tree.
Just a quick flick through, and here are my highlights:
Muggle Quidditch – A live action Quidditch match that players can drop in and out of over the course of three hour session. Would love to know how they do this, should be a blast!
Pimp my nerf – A workshop pimping people’s nerf guns with a steampunk twist. Cogs, gears and foam darts, oh my!
Indie RPGs and Storygasm – A chance for new budding designers to show off their ideas and get the feedback. A chance to find the ‘next big thing’ in the RPG world.
Water dancing with Syrio Forel – I kid you not. ‘The’ Game of Thrones Syrio Forel (actor Miltos Yerolemou) will be giving classes on sword fighting! Miltos is a trained professional sword fighter, so this promises to be an amazing experience.
Born Of Hope – A Lord of the Rings film from Director Kate Madison, telling the tragic, romantic tale of the Dúnedain and the birth of Aragorn. A must for LotR fans.
This isn’t even close to all the amazing events going on at this convention, with something for literally everybody. Have fun!
