THE RALPHIES – BEST OF 2017 AWARDS

That’s it Ladies and Gents, the nominations are in and the votes have been cast by your fair hand.. there is no going backnow.

Below is our 2017 Best of awards. Should you like to see all the results, in pie chart form no less, then scroll to the bottom of the page where there are thumbnails for each category. Other wise, thanks for sending in your votes and make sure to keep an eye out for next years.

 

THE RALHIES – BEST OF 2017

 

Best Gaming Platform

It seems that Xbox and Nintendo didn’t really have a chance with Playstation hitting 34.5% of the vote and PC coming a close second with 32.6%

Best Triple A Game

The Nintendo Switch may not have come close on this years best gaming platform but with 24.1% of the vote it dominated on our AAA game of 2017 with Horizon: Zero Dawn only managing 17% of the vote.

Best Table top Game

With so many table top games out there, 2017 was set to be an interesting year but despite am early lead from wild card, Exploding kittens, it settled on 20.6% of the vote and the scene was set for D&D 5th Edition and Warhammer 40k 8th Edition to duke it out. It was a close run thing but in the end D&D could only muster 25.7% of the vote, losing out to WH40k with a commanding 30.8%

The Emperors light definitely  shown on Games Workshop.

Best Film

A very hard fought battle for best film of 2017 but with 20.4% of the vote Logan was the deserved winner, with honourable mentions to Thor: Ragnarok (17.9%) Guardians of the Galaxy V2 (15.7%) and Wonder Woman (12.8%)

Best Comic book Publisher

Not only are Marvel dominating the Movie wold but there seems to be very little competition in the comics world too with an outstanding lead of 44.1% of the vote. DC only managed a poultry 23, with Image and Dark horse at 14.6% and 12.6% respectively.

Best Comicbook / Graphic Novel

A very close run battle for best Comic book / Graphic Novel of 2017 with Batman: White Knight, The Mighty Thor and Saga having 15% (15.5, 15.5 and 15.1 respectively) but there could only be one winner and Darth hit the top spot.. “All i am surrounded by is fear… and dead men”

Best book

First published in 1934 Murder on the Orient Express seems to have been given a huge boon by the recent (and excellent ) film of the same name, storming ahead of the competition with a win of 38.5%. with  Book of Dust  and Master of Mankind having 19.5% and 14.6% respectively.

Best Youtube Channel

With Cosplay Music videos, comedy shorts and fan films, Sneaky Zebra have made a name for themselves around the world managing to scoop 33.2% of the vote with Table Top Gaming channels, Mini Wargaming and Beasts of war coming in at 14.3 and 11.7 %.

Best Convention

Seems we had a lot of UK voters this year as MCM have come 1st and Second with MCM London (36.6%) and Manchester MCM (10.2%) SDCC, having to settle for 10.2% of the vote and sharing second place.

Best Cosplayer

It was a very, very close run thing, with a male Cosplayer (Maul Cosplay 20.6%), for the first time, looking like he would claim victory but being pipped to the post on the last couple of days by Cosplay Great, Jessica Nigri (27.6%)

Best Indie Game

Its an oldskool platformer based on even older school cartoons. Cuphead (39.5%) came out of nowhere and pushed PUBG (28.8%) off the top slot; Stonehearth only managing to get a miserly 7.9% of the vote.

Best Indie Gaming store

Not a lot of nominations in this category but those who were involved fought hard. In the end though Level Up Games got the high score and ran away with victory on a crushing 52.1% of the vote!

Best Indie Table Top Game

A very close matter as well but with online comic, Cyanide & Happiness’s card game, Joking Hazard, taking 29.1% of the vote, closely followed by Gloomhaven (19%) Drowned Earth (19%) and Custom Heroes (14.8%).

Best Indie Comic / Graphic Novel

Twisted Dark weren’t even challenged in this category, storming to the win with a whopping 63% of the vote! Monsters (17.6%) and Torso Bear (9.7%) could only sit and watch as this Indie Comic Behemoth ceased victory.

Best Amateur  Cosplayer

Once again a very tight competition but with Exeter Cosplay (25%)  and his Power Armour proving that Blood for the Blood God truly does get you favour with the ruinous powers. Honourable mentions  for Kenny Cosplay Stuff (20.4%) Invisible Girl (16.7%) and Valentine Costumes (14.4%)

Best Up and coming YouTube Channel

Our Up and coming Youtube channel category was only really a two horse race, with Geek Pride’s very own Mike Orvis’s Channel, Beardy No Mates (32.4 %), coming a close second to The Historical Gamer who had nearly 50% of the vote (49.5%) . GO HISTORY!

Just.. the worst

And last but not least we have our Final category with just the worst of 2017.

To be honest it wasn’t really a fight, Logan Paul’s (20.8% ) general douche baggery, EA’s (15.4%) money grabbing and even Pewdiepie’s N-Bomb pale in comparison to the Political and human Car crash that is Donald Trump and his deserved 57.7%!
