The much anticipated and notoriously secretive J.J. Abrams sequel Star Trek Into Darkness, is due for release in only a short six months and yet very little has been officially released or leaked for that matter. We’ve known for quite sometime Benedict Cumberbatch has a part in the film but as yet no character confirmation, though let’s be honest he’s the bad guy, he has to be. Last week Paramount finally released the following synopsis which does give more of an insight:
[box_light]“When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.
With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew“[/box_light]
Today has marked the release of the first official poster. Needless to say it certainly visually represents the ‘detonated fleet’ mentioned in the synopsis and I’m guessing the ‘unstoppable force’, although we can’t see his face, I’m pretty sure it is the aforementioned Cumberbatch. Yes, I have jumped to conclusions but please understand I would actually love nothing more then to be proved wrong with an awesome plot twist, surprise, type thing. It will only make the film more awesome. With a returning cast I enjoyed watching the first time round, the certainty of big explosions and space battles, this is a release I am definitely looking forward to. Due for UK release on the 17th of May and I just hope they have fixed that blinding lens flare issue.
