Following the success of ‘The Wolverine’, director James Mangold has started negotiations with Twentieth Century Fox to produce a sequel.
Whilst the movie only did a respectable $132 million in America, it racked up $280 million on the international market. This makes ‘The Wolverine’ the second highest grossing X-Men franchise movie of all time.
At the time of writing this, negotiations are dealing with the details of Mangold writing a treatment (movie outline) with X-Men franchise producer Lauren Shuler Donner. Once this is complete, Mangold can choose his story and start writing, if this works out well things should move on quickly from there, toward filming.
