Remember those old Ladybird books when you were a kid with the great artwork and classic stories? No? Christ I’m old! Well anyway, LA-based blogger & artist Joebot has created some book covers for books I wish someone would write!
Joebot talked about the merging of children’s books & videogames on his blog:
”I recently have been really into the artwork of the classic Little Golden Books. There’s something very charming about their simplicity, and yet they are some of the books that I remember most from my early childhood… I’ve been thinking about some of the classic games that people will still (hopefully) point to years from now and hold them up as games that made a difference, and possibly, for some child out there, Portal or Skyrim will be a memory from their early childhood.”
Aren’t these just awesome? It’ll probably never happen, but I’m seriously crossing my fingers that someone writes some child-friendly short stories based on these titles to make them real! Anyone up for it? I’ll even have a word with Joebot and see if he’d illustrate the book should someone want to!
I’m deadly serious by the way – I’d love to have something like this to read to my kids!
Anyway enough of my fawning over something not very likely… here are some larger versions of each individual image… if you’d like to order some prints from Joebot’s Etsy shop, then click here to order all 3, or the links by each image if you want them individually.
