The literary genius that is Neil Gaiman (The Sandman, Coraline, Good Omens) has certainly been working hard this year, having just released a new book (The Ocean at the End of the Lane), along with news that he is working on a prequel to The Sandman. He has now just broke the news that he has been working with Moonshark (Verticus) and The Odd Gentlemen (The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom).
The game titled ‘Wayward Manor‘ follows a ghost residing in his home for 200+ years as he deals with many tenants who come to stay and learns about his own life and death. This sounds like a perfect fit with all of Gaiman’s dark works.
The ‘first part‘ will be released this fall, that’s according to the Moonshark mobile video in which Gaiman introduces the game. Gameplay will be focused upon puzzles and adventures as the poltergeist protagonist scares away the squatters in his home.
This isn’t the first time Gaiman has worked on a computer game, however it will be the first time one comes to fruition.
‘Back in the late 1990s I spent a lot of time working with various gaming companies. What tended to happen is I put an incredible amount of work in these things and just as something was about to happen, the company was about to go bankrupt….I think the biggest surprise is I did it and got involved in [Wayward Manor]. Nobody would have expected it and I didn’t have the time. It just got fun and I had to make time.’
