The developers of Persona are now working for Sega after they came to an agreement with Atlus‘ struggling parent company, Index Corporation to purchase the developer from them for a reported £88m.
Sega registered an interest in acquiring Atlus when Index filed for bankruptcy back in June after filing for ‘government-managed rehabilitation’ to the tune of £154 million. This didn’t mean that Sega acquired Atlus easily, as according to a report made from Bloomberg Japan they were only one of twenty companies interested in the development company.
In the official filing confirming the purchase, Sega mentions Atlus’ Megami tensei, Persona and Etrian Odyssey IPs as crucial assets. This means that all Persona fans out there can finally breathe easily to the knowledge the game series could continue.
