Atlus, the developer responsible for the Persona series, Demon’s Souls and Catherine, has been put up for sale by its parent company, Index Corporation, which is currently facing stock market de-listing in Japan. Bids will be taken from next week and it is expected that several Japanese publishers could be interested. To me, Atlus has proven time after time that it would be a valuable asset to any games company so I’m sure it will be snapped up pretty quickly. Apparently publishing plans for upcoming titles Dragon’s Crown or Etrian Odyssey Untold shouldn’t be affected by the sale.

The news comes via Bloomberg, which states that the company is facing stock market delisting on July 28, and will begin taking bids next week.
Total sales of assets, which again includes games publisher Altus, are expected to earn around $149 million.Atlus is responsible for publishing some rather big titles such as Persona 4, Demon’s Souls, Catherine and the upcoming Dragon’s Crown. It’s currently unknown which companies would be interested in picking the publisher up, although some Japanese based publishers such as Capcom could very well be interested.
