Han Solo Speculation, Part 1

HanSoloCantinaSince Disney announced a Han Solo trilogy the same time that they announced the Boba Fett movie, it’s only fair for me to look at some news for Han speculation. On the when Moviefone got their hands on Bryan Singer, currently working on X-Men: Days of Future Past, he mentioned seeing that young Nicholas Hoult’s name was on a few shortlists for Han Solo casting. This got me thinking.

Hoult’s been busy of late- just in the last month, two movies he starred in were released theatrically. TWO. A virtual no-name until X-Men: First Class, he was then cast as a lead role in the zombie-apocalypse-romeo+juliet Warm Bodies and the fairy tale feature Jack the Giant Slayer, now going back to the character of Beast in Days of Future Past. From nerdy kid to action hero overnight is pretty outstanding, yet not entirely uncommon. Does anyone else remember Tom Cruise? Michael Keaton (Batman counts as an action role)? Zachary Quinto?

I don’t know about you guys, but after seeing this kid’s mug all over the place, it wouldn’t surprise me if Disney gave him the option of walking his action legs in a Star Wars movie, let alone as stormtrooper-turned-smuggler Han Solo.

Singer even went so far as to say “I don’t know anything, but I literally would not be surprised if something like that happened. I almost said something to Nick today about it, like, “You know, I wouldn’t be surprised if you find yourself in one of those.” But I have no idea, even though I’m working with Simon Kinberg every day and he is involved with that franchise, I have no information about that. It’s just my own intuition.”

While I’m keeping my ear to the ground on any details about the Star Wars franchise, I’ll just ask that you junkies keep it classy.
