Whilst fans of Dredd wait and pray to the fickle gods of filmland for a sequel to the amazing Dredd, the first episode, or ‘prog,’ of Cursed Edge, the long-gestating fan project which serves as a follow up to the acclaimed film, has made its debut.
A labour of love for writer/director Oliver Holingdale, Cursed Edge is set in the same world as the film. Despite a budget of nothing, it manages to throw in nods to the source material, and has impressive visuals. The Mega City One here is arguably more in fitting with Judge Dredd’s 2000AD home than the acclaimed film starring Karl Urban: lurid neon lights dominate the landscape of the Pleasure District as a working girl sets off to meet a client and things get messy.
This first prog was introduced with the following statement on their Facebook Page
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Here is the very first Episode of Cursed Edge! There will be around 6 in total, spanning approx. 10 minutes each, This has been a big challenge trying to materialise and to make these episodes with 0 funds but this will not stop us from trying our best.
We hope you enjoy and continue to support our aims to help the alertness of getting a Dredd sequel. We could not do this with out all your help and hope you continue to support Cursed Edge.
