After some supposed Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag images leaked the other day, there’s been speculation as to it’s validity… I personally thought it was fake, as we haven’t had a new AC game with a subtitle – only a continuation of the story a-la Brotherhood & Revelations. However it would appear that I was incorrect.
Ubisoft has been forced to confirm ACIV: Black Flag ahead of the full reveal next week, and the above box art has been thrown in for extra authenticity (which is pretty standard fare, and identical for all platforms). I chose to post the Playstation 3 art purely for the interesting PS3 exclusive extra 60 minutes of gameplay part – this has been fairly standard too, what with AC Revelations including the original Assassin’s Creed in with it, and AC3 including exclusive content too.
As Hani advised in her article, it seems that Ubisoft made good on their “beta test” of the naval levels in Assassin’s Creed 3, and are looking to expand that gameplay element into the next game.
It’s already been confirmed that there will be a new protagonist, and if you take liberties and speculate by looking at the artwork, it looks as though there’ll be a bit more gunplay incorporated into the combat system.
Still… I’m kind of annoyed really – was it only me that was hoping and praying for a feudal Japan-era game complete with Samurai, Shogun & Ninja? Like this nice concept on the right…? (Forgive me, I was unable to track down the artist).
Anyway the official box art was available for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U… no sign of a PS4 version on the horizon for the foreseeable future then. But, we’ll have more information available to us regarding the title on Monday, so make sure you come back to check it out!
